DIG 268
DIG 268 is located in Mungyeong, South Korea. Mungyeong is known as the birthplace of Korea’s coal mine. During the period of economic development, coal mining reached its peak and the city flourished. The abundance of coal deposits also shaped a geologically complex landscape, leaving numerous mines and tunnels scattered throughout the area.
This project began with a simple question. After completing the Mangmi Farm Project, I became interested in exploring geometric structures using timber. Unlike materials such as concrete or steel, which can be shaped relatively freely, I asked: “Is it possible to construct circular geometry using wood?”
The goal of this project is to test and extend the physical limits of wood through structural experimentation.
